Kapra Visits the Northwest

Jai, Levi the haberdasher & David the founder.

What a busy summer it is turning out to be. We are at it again, Kapra is back on the road. Just this last month I joined Mark (our creative director who lives in Cyprus) on a trip back home to the Pacific Northwest of the United States. We were so preoccupied with the relaxing carefree agendas that we almost forgot to get any work done. Luckily enough, when we did finally go out to explore the local tailoring scene we stumbled upon “Sew Generously Bespoke” in Seattle’s oldest neighborhood.

We showed up unannounced and were welcomed as if we were old friends. “Sew Generously” has got it going on, they’re making spectacular garments with not only some unique style inspirations, but they’re using the finest fabrics and constructing them with masterful craftsmanship. One thing that I found to be genius and quite unique is that part of their process is to provide the suit owner with the style sketches that chronicle their experience.

“Sew Generously Bespoke” is one of the few establishments in the nation creating traditional custom bespoke clothing all in-house and of the highest quality. Founded in 2013 by David Pew, the shop has a very unique origin story based on a beautiful spiritual experience. Sometime nearly 20 years ago or so while meditating over the verse “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously” This spoke David heard the voice of God speak directly to his heart saying “David, you will sew generously, and the nations will reap what you sew and have food to eat”. From that moment he knew his calling and worked tirelessly since.

Throughout, what turned into a few hours, we were shown all around their modern shop and talked about everything from fabric construction (for instance: our Canclini Limited shirt fabrics) to all sorts of potential collaborations. One new offering we have been excited to share with everyone is our new custom linings. We now produce linings printed with your custom art. Here are some of our current offerings: Linings.

It has been too long since I was on the road and it was so great to meet with people face to face again. There is something special about discussing the industry and the art in person that you just can’t get from zoom meetings. We will keep traveling, perhaps we could visit you next? Let us know.
